Floating Nude wrote and performed tight, challenging, post-punk music for audiences in the San Francisco Bay Area during the early 1980s. The three songs presented here were recorded in 1982 and exist as the band's only studio-quality productions. Floating Nude addressed a variety of controversial subjects through their lyrics, and much of their dark social commentary is as timely today as it was when it was written. Membership in the band included long-term Taped Rugs guitarist/keyboardist Robert Silverman (from -Ing, Herd Of The Ether Space) and drummer Glenn Reynolds (from Tripod Jimmie, formed by Tom Herman of Pere Ubu).
Taped Rugs is proud to offer this long-buried collection to the public in 2023. This archive also includes Floating Nude photographs and scans. Special thanks to Debra Burger for providing some of these archival materials. The recordings offered here also have been made available in a limited-edition cassette format through Taped Rugs. Anyone with additional information about Floating Nude is encouraged to contact Taped Rugs to assist in expanding the group's long-term presence.
